Hi! I’m Janet Barry
(Jan to most people in my life).
Rather than bore you with details of my birth date, schooling etc., I’d love to share my thoughts, inspirations and the things that speak to my soul. (Of course, you’re welcome to contact me if you need the boring details for any reason).
Even as a young child I was preoccupied with the natural world. Early childhood years in Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) fuelled my imagination with encounters with snakes, wildlife sightings and building forts in the long grass. Plants, animals and my natural surroundings always occupied a large space in my mind.

From the moment I learned to read, it was as though an entire new world opened up to me and I became an avid reader of anything I could devour. As a teenager, my happy space was lying under the willow tree in our front garden reading (also avoiding chores and the busy antics of my 3 much younger siblings).
The man that I married and had two beautiful children with, was an adventurer who loved travelling and wildlife. Our lives were enriched by many trips to the “bush” where we all learned more about nature every time and built up a store of so many happy memories.
My inspiration for writing, joy and all forms of creative pursuits was and always is, nature!
I have learned to slow down and try to notice what breathtaking beauty nature selflessly shares with us. To appreciate the simple things… like how stunning the dappled light dancing through the leaves of the tree I’m walking under is. To notice the constantly changing moods of the ocean, and always to appreciate and enjoy seeing the wild creatures that we should be taking better care of.
Wherever I am in nature I cant help seeing glimmers of magic wherever I look.
I hope you will enjoy following my pursuits that demonstrate my love of nature and enjoy the stories about the creatures that I find interesting and like to write about.
I’d love to hear your feedback and what speaks to your soul and inspires you.
Stay well,
Jan.
